Bush coming to Northern Ireland....

The BBC says " US President George W Bush is to visit Northern Ireland next month. The visit follows this month's US investment in Belfast. The details of the presidential visit are still being worked out. However, it is understood that Mr Bush wants to put his seal of approval on devolution." What i would love to know is what that "seal" actually is? Is this a literal "seal" in the style of those old fashioned stamp things that went on mail about 500 years ago? Is it a figure of speech for "good publicity for the goons who are running our country?" If it is about looking good then our politicians have outed themselves as dafter than i thought by inviting this clown to our little land. I guess it is not like he needs an invite to come "visit" your country now does he?

Robert Dunlop..........

Motorcyclist Robert Dunlop has died at the age of 47 after suffering severe chest injuries in a crash in Thursday's practice session at the North West 200. Another Northern Ireland rider, Darren Burns, suffered a suspected broken leg and concussion in the accident, but is said to be stable in hospital. The accident happened in the 250cc qualifying session in County Antrim. Dunlop's brother Joey, a legendary figure in British motorcycle circles, died while racing in Estonia in 2000. "Robert was one of our greatest sportsmen and will be sadly missed."

Better Blogs you should read...........

So often i get recommended great blogs that are on the other side of the world, which, of course is fine BUT we have some very talented bloggers on our little island, check out my favorites....

My Wife Cherith : funny, beautiful, lovely and yea i would still check out her blog if she wasn't my wife!

Andru : i employ this chap on fridays & saturdays & he is a very talented photographer, slightly inconsistent blogger but when he blogs it is good.

Connor : another great photographer, i remember him hanging about "Pulse" with his camera before he was shaving!!

Emma : worked with me in my coffee making days, she saw my random absurd moments as most people who have worked with me do! Got any Polaroid? Go here to give it away to a good cause.

Coffee Helps : This insanely talented blogger is a phenomenon, you should all be reading this blog & laughing out loud. Keep an eye out for a book me thinks................

So, go say hi to all these talented folks, link to them and give us Irish bloggers a "big up"

Electricity............

A while ago we noticed our lights flickering on & off in the evening time. So, in typical fashion i passed it off as a one off freak happening and forgot about it! Well, it started to get rather annoying at the weekend and then we noticed appliances not running at full power, our toaster took about 3 times as long to burn some bread and the fridge is not as cold as it needs to be so, our wonderful & efficient Northern Ireland Electricity Board have been contacted and they "may" send someone out today to investigate. They "may" also need into our house but could not be sure so i have taken half my day off in anticipation of that taking place! They seem to keep their operation together with a series of "perhaps" and "maybes," it is truly fascinating.....................

Panama Kings

"Panama Kings are a band born of frustration. Theoretically formed at the start of 2007 as a respite for members of other successful Northern Irish acts, they started writing and gigging in earnest towards the end of the year, making a firm impression in double-quick time. With a few simple goals to keep it fun, fresh and to create an indie-rock-dance-party suitable for clubs every bit as much as live shows, the band refuse to acknowledge any form of industry pressure and are resolute in their manifesto." Well thats the official blurb but the other day these dudes were being discussed briefly in work and i kinda know Ricardo (used to work with his dad) and well i thought i would check out there form! Its safe to say i wouldnt be posting on my blog about them if i wasn't impressed. My thoughts on "local" musical talent are usually quite harsh and critical but i dig this stuff a lot.

check them out here
