weekly classic no:2

This is appropriate in a week when i have been obsessing about Levon Helm a tad. This clip is the beginning and also the end of The Last Waltz by The Band. It is the simply the Greatest Rock & Roll film ever, all others could not compare to this masterpiece & the opening scene? It is one the coolest openings to any film ever...........did i mention that Martin Scorsese directed the film?

I was not going to say much about this just yet as i literally have only listened through the album once but i am personally grateful that Levon "started to try and sing" again after his illness. I fell in love with this man when i first watched The Last Waltz, his musicianship, his voice and his songs just captivated me. The self titled second album from The Band is simply one of the best sounding albums iv ever experienced and to think that this guy may never have sang again is heart-breaking. He "started to try and sing"........................praise the Lord. They don't make them like this guy anymore!
