Get Smart?

We went to see Get Smart last night, it was pretty good. I am not so sure that the other 4 people who shared screen 2 with us found it as funny as we did. I felt like i was laughing on my own a few times, which is a weird sensation but ah who cares. We had a medium sprite and a bag of maltesers which we ate rather enthusiastically. I was hungry when i got home and had some cheese on toast, some crisps and.....you know what? All you need to know is that i ate some junk last night and my stomach is rather unwell today. The film was good, did i say that?

The Dark Knight...........

We saw this film last friday night here. I have been hesitant to blog about it as it seems everyone is doing so and i am not a great film reviewer at the best of times. I was reading this review just now though and thought i would pick up on a couple of the points they make over at 'Hollywood Jesus.'

The Dark Knight is "a very dark, very bleak, very violent film" and they quite rightly ask the question "Why would so many people find that appealing?" Is the Heath Ledger performance and his tragic death enough of a reason for the initial success of the film? The review asks this important question: "This is far from an uplifting film, and especially considering the dark times we're living in ourselves, why would so many people want to repeatedly go and indulge in a film that takes that darkness and magnifies it ten-fold?" So, why does a film so dark excite us so much? We loved the film, i did not really think about any spiritual aspect of it while we watched. The Batman as a Christ figure is perhaps a little too obvious to mention, so what do we think?

Charlton Heston......

Say what you will about Charlton Heston but as a child i thought he was Moses so he was pretty cool in my eyes. Heston died on Saturday at his home in Beverly Hills. His wife Lydia, whom he married in 1944, was at his side. No role was too big for Heston. In The Greatest Story Ever Told, he was John the Baptist; he played El Cid, along with Michelangelo in The Agony and the Ecstasy and General Gordon in Khartoum. And, in 1959, he won an Oscar for Best Actor for his performance in Ben-Hur. Heston once said of himself, "I have played three presidents, three saints and two geniuses in my career. If that doesn't create an ego problem, nothing does."
