Funny moment

So we are walking down a pedestrian zone in town today and this car is coming towards me............i cannot go anywhere because of some workmen and the mess they have made to my left and on our right is a row of parked cars so im staring this car down and cherith says "ally lets get out of the way of the car"

And i loudly reply "yea where do i go, he is on a pedestrian zone and he shouldnt be!"

oooooops "afternoon officer" as i politely gesture at the unmarked police car!!! I'll get out of your way!

Sick report from Cherrysimbo.......

So I feel really sick. BlaH.
My head is all dizzy and thumping.
I have filled my work bin with loads of snotty tissues.
A feel sick. BlaH. GuuR, NufRR. These are all the noises that my wet nose is making in my head. I'm sitting in work trying not to make these noises out load and disgust all my fellow technicians. SniC, FluP. I got a dose of the cold bigtime. Feel miserable.



Yuk. Why did I even come to work today?
I cant go to the boss now and ask if its ok to go home sick unless I vomit.

However, interestingly, I haven't actually vomited since 1988, and I aint gonna start again now just to get home from work.
I last vomited when I was 5, and at that tender age I decided I was never gonna do it again, and I haven't. By the way we used to have a big white plastic bowl with all our chocolate bars and crisp packets in it and if you were sick mum would tip them out. Then you could be sick in the big white plastic vomit bowl. Yuk, we also used that bowl for baking (after it had been cleaned obviously). Yuk whatever.

Venice and a tanned bluffer...............

Look at this picture...............................this is from my bro's trip to Italy with his mates, they only got one day in Venice but just look at it!! Beautiful...............so i reckon il have to go sometime eh?



This is the tanned eeeejit (below) trying to play along with a "real musician" at the villa they stayed in!! The dude on the couble bass.......i think he owned teh place or something and they wanted a wee jam! Thing about Philip is that "no fear" factor that he has on the keys, look at his expression, hes watching the "real musician" fooling him by somehow keeping up!!!..............see, he bluffs it really well and if The Rolling Stones waltzed in he would sit and play their whole back catalogue along with them.............totally bluffing it!! And he would get away with it................me, on the other hand? I would have a stroke on the 3rd bar of Satisfaction or my i would slip on my own pool of sweat and split my head upon!!



Anyway, i couldnt think of what to say tonight so i was looking at these photos and thought "look at that bluffing git" playing with a double bass player!! lol

Most bloggers enter the blog community and gain a few readers from the other blogs they visit or maybe they get the occasional fluke visitor who keeps coming back!! But that opening statement is rolling around my head.....

So, with that in mind how did yo get here? I know how a few of you did and i realise that nobody new will comment..........but i still find it fascinating that some random on the other side of the world will no doubt stumble across my blog and maybe read this post.............its weird isn't it? Surprisingly i am not on a "whos reading my blog" paranoid trip! But having started the blog .........mmmmm ages ago, i am often baffled by the amount of visitors in a day.............actually stunned, baffled and i also find it mildly amusing!! Anyway, thanks if you are a regular and thanks if you are here by accident...............

On a lighter note!! I just saw a big business man type dude on tv that i completely want to slap............so supersimbo officially does not like smartass patronising "look at my mercedez benz" type businessmen!!

Awh Crap its "the shining"

So it always happens to me................the film that scares me to death comes on and i decide im not going to watch it and guess what happens? Yea you know i have to watch and thats what just happened.........its actually still on as i type this and thats good to have the blog distracting me a bit cuz its a scary ass movie. I dont really know why it freaks me so much............phhht right who am i kidding. Theres the "freaky twins" and the "blood spewing elevators" and "danny on his trike" and if that wasn't bad enough then there is Jack Nicholson................what a scary nut he is in the film, has he played a better part? I dont think so but anyway..............enough said? It scares me!!



And on a lighter note!! I just added a new blog to "my ego links"..............its right at the top of the pile and its kind of an unofficial yet official atiG blog!! The first little post is just a wee intro and a promo for Shaun Groves@whitwell and there are no links etc on it just yet but patience patience eh? Hopefully i can get a wee bit of info on there from time to time so the world can hear about what we do as we do it................ok if that makes no sense then stay tuned as we have exciting news coming very soon.

People who are away.....

When i say away i do not mean they are crazy!! A couple of great folks i know have flown away to other lands in recent days and i thought id mention them, say something nice........................you know the form!
Emma...............well some of you will know emma. She is in my links if you dont so go look at her blog now!!! Anyway i met this "little lady" when i started to work at the "upper room" She came in looking for a job, she got the job and she turned out to be the best member of staff we had all year..............YES even better than me!! Helpful, friendly, encouraging and enthusiastic are all words i could use to describe emma but who am i kidding.....................no, really i am kidding she was all of these and more. So we became friends and well Cherith laughs when i say this but she became like a little sister in a funny kind of way............i kind of need to include "Joanne" in this also..........phht!! lol On nights when i was well grumpy and not up for work, Emma and Joanne made me laugh, cheered me up and frustrated me with their teenage innocence and wacky ways! But, emma is away at Uni now..............so far away in Glasgow!!! So, Supersimbo wishes emma all the best for her new chapter in life and watch out for those scottish blokes!! A great kid who will no doubt impact everyone she meets in a positive way.

Now, Davey......................or "Holden" as i affectionately call him now!! Davey went to Romania today for 3 months and may end up staying permanantly. Davey comes into the shop .........mmmm maybe 30 times a week!! lol A Chef, a Biker and an all round great guy. He is like the official moral support co-ordinator for the Faith mission Bookshop in Ballymena, stopping in and making us laugh............he's been doing it for years and is a close friend of Trevor who used to manage the shop. A weird little circle of people we are...............anyway, Davey.......................supersimbo sends out prayers and mucho love to Romania, oh and cover up those tattoo's you yob!! lol Ah you know what...........heres a pic of the man with my bro and trevor!!

Update on "Hammond"

Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond has suffered a "significant brain injury" after crashing a jet-powered car at speeds of up to 300mph during filming. Doctors at Leeds General Infirmary said they were "reasonably optimistic" the 36-year-old would make a good recovery. The BBC, which is likely to face close scrutiny, has begun an inquiry. The police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are also investigating. Hammond's wife Mindy was at his bedside in the Leeds hospital and he was also visited by Top Gear co-hosts Jeremy Clarkson and James May.
Referring to Hammond by his nickname, Clarkson said in statement: "Both James and I are looking forward to getting our 'hamster' back."

Yesterday i was in Belfast and then came straight from the train station to the shop to do some stock take stuff.................as we went around to the shop a nearby street was blocked off and there were police absolutely everywhere! So, we thought ah car accident or something....................heres why.

"The police have begun a murder inquiry following the death of a woman in Ballymena, County Antrim.
It follows the results of a post mortem examination on the body of Shirley Finlay, 24, from Crebilly Road in the town.
Her body was discovered in a car park off Mount Street on Tuesday afternoon.
Police have appealed for information about the woman's movements prior to her death and want to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity."

Also tonight i want to just say something about Richard Hammond, one of the presenters of the legendary BBC show Top Gear. He was involved in some sort of accident while filming for the show and is in critical condition. Details are as yet unclear but it appears to be very serious..................

The death of conversation...........

More than nine out of 10 12-year-olds in the UK now have a mobile phone, a survey has suggested.
Almost 80% of the young people who took part in the research said they felt safer having a mobile and that they had a better social life as a result. On average, they send or receive up to 10 text messages a day - three times more than their parents.
Who does not have a mobile phone these days? When kids of 10 are sending text messages and not able to talk to people around them as a result then we have a slight cultural problem do we not? Conversation is dead..........we are too busy texting, emailing or chatting on msn! What the???? Ok, i use the internet a considerable amount but i like to think i can still engage in a good conversation about a wide variety of subjects...................lol dont laugh at me folks i mean that!
The health risks of all this modern technology is also a worrying factor for the generation that will follow us...........what damage is the mobile phone really doing and will we find out in our lifetime? Who cares as long as my phone is small enough to fit in my pocket eh? Doesnt it matter if its burning a hole in my leg and rendering me impotent? I mean, stuff conversation if the real problem is that your kids are getting cancer at the expense of being the coolest kid in the playground?
So take that mobile phone and flush it down the toilet just like i didnt.............................its hopeless isnt it, the scumbags have us conditioned to need these things!!

A lot can happen in 2 days...........

So i decide to take a wee break from the blog for a couple of days and suddenly the Pope has offended a load of Muslims!! What is the world coming to.........................eh?
The Pope on Sunday expressed regret for causing offence in last week's speech - delivered during a visit to his native Germany. He said the medieval text he quoted, which said the Prophet Muhammad had brought the world only evil, did not in any way express his personal opinion........mmmm i would say "fair point Benedict dude" but unfortunately some Muslims now want you burnt to a crisp! Whats a religious leader to do these days? Should he have some balls and say what he thinks? If he doesn't does his silence compromise his faith and make him appear weak? I dunno .........really i dont and thats why i am not a political leader or a religious leader. But does this make my religious convictions useless or void if i wouldnt stand up and risk my life at the hands of a Muslim or any other faith that i wouldnt accept as truth? I suppose............and i hate to raise it but the culture i have been born into is such that by having definate beliefs that contradict those of another denomination then you are labelled a bigot or a heretic....................so, thanks to my blogging friend from Massachusetts who pointed this out in a recent post. The only problem is that i cannot post the real image so i have modified it and in doing so have taken heed to the advice on the bottom of the image!!!!

"So, for those of you who don't know, i work in an architect's office. However here is a little secret about it.... None of us are actually architects. We call ourselves architectural consultants. mmm interesting.
I am a trained architectural technologist.
The difference between myself and an architect is my training focused more on technical stuff, like steal beams, dpc's, drainage and all manner of exciting things. Whereas architects generally focus more on drawing curvy buildings that look shiny and glassy and new. (this drawing would then be handed to the humble arch technologist to 'detail up', i.e. make it practical.)
In our office we do the design bit too, like the architect but we get paid less.
Anyway, today i am working on some two bedroom 3 storey apartments for a little village outside the mena. Nice and quaint. Yet deadly frustrating. There is so so much to take into consideration, doors, stairs, heights, fire regulations, etc, etc, etc that i believe it may actually be driving me mad.
I started the job about a week ago and have been working on and off at it getting there very slowly. And i finally think i have cracked it, but as with any arch job there is always some snake in the grass waiting to rear its ugly head (carparking, bin stores, etc).
For example if i move a wall to put a door in (doors are vital) then the wall upstairs moves too meaning the upstairs has to be reworked etc.etc.
For this reason, apparently, many architects take early 'retirement' or more commonly named 'breakdowns'. So i have resigned myself to the fact that eventually i will become so picky, pedantic and intense that i will either have to leave the job or go mad. I don't know which one will be worse!!
Do other proffessions have this too?
I know that dentists have the highest ratesof suicide? strange.
Why not have a campaign - an architectural helpline?, Save the dentist rallys?

Not a change of heart or a change of mind BUT a change of Post!!!
Thats right, i edited and changed the post that was formerly here......................why.................mmmm i think i overdosed on 9/11 and its depressing the ass of me. It doesn't help that its as hot as a mofo in this room!! Our oil tank has a small leak so we need to replace it. So, because there is not much oil left in it we have switched the heat on to run it down before we switch to the new one......................now thank God we are not in the middle of our "hot summer" but it is still quite humid here and having the central heating switched on is just mental!!!! mental i tell you!! So im dreary and frustrated because everytime i switch tv channels its about 9/11 or i keep getting this N.i. Railways advertisement and its pure bollocks....................the girl who does the voice over is telling "pork pies".........i bet she isn't even a Railway user. The curse of the faster trains eh? I reckon i chucked on the train the other day because of the super efficient fast frequency they now run on!!! They are so hi-tech that some humans are unable to cope mentally and physically with the pressure of being in the train as it performs! I imagine that the bug or fluid within humans that prevents us from coping with the super cool trains was well and truly ejected from my insides last tuesday as i wrenched my guts in that cramped hi-tech toilet!

p.s. sometimes i vomit in text!! YOu just read some vomit of the best quality!!

So i really dont know how i have never managed to post about this in nearly 2 years but it came up in conversation with Wes..........il throw some facts at you first!!

But heres the coolest part.........................On the 29th March next year i am marrying a girl called Cherith Eaton!

Ok so we are doing all the house and wedding plans stuff right now!! BUT we are also awaiting some of the most exciting stuff to happen with atiG since we started out a few short years ago. The above banner gives away that Shaun Groves is in Ireland next month. We are so happy to be working with Shaun on the Belfast gig and looking forward to meeting him and hearing him again....................the other excitement is ......................mmm its a secret!! I will say that we are possibly on the verge of working with one of the most talked about bands in the industry! I dont even have the album yet!! what the??? stay tuned folks, i will piss myself if this one happens...............i will also thank God for what he is doing with atiG.

9/11 the twin towers............

The BBC says...
"Drama-documentary which uses the testimonies of survivors, victims' families and city officials to present a minute-by-minute sequence of events"



The programme just broke for the news and resumes shortly......................i dont how to feel, watching this is shocking, yet for those survivors who are telling their stories.............wow emotions are all over the place as i watch people survive, yet know that thousands died. It has been, perhaps a bit too graphic in places. One mock scene showed the 2nd plane hit through the eyes of a survivor who watched it fly directly into the floor he was on..............that was scary to watch, even though i know what i saw was c.g.i.....................
I wonder if re-creating these events for this programme is any worse than the upcoming documentary which shows George Bush being mudered? Is the fact that its reality not worse than a fictional event being screened? I dont know what i think but i am curious what you think?

BUT I NEED IT..............

There are things in life that we 'need' and then there are things that we 'want'.............sometimes its easy to work out what things fall into each category isn't it? There are of course other time when the lines become blurred and our senses lie to us..............take for example, just now i zipped by the apple website, as i do most days and BANG WALLOP SMACK there it is on the first page!! The new iMac range...................complete with a new size! A whopping 24inch screen!! Holy toledo Batman!!
So iv just changed my underwear and am goin through that momentary loss of your where you think............
'ok, what can i sell to finance this?'
See, the lines are blurred!? Ok i know i know i will NOT be buying one of these BUT i will discuss this new apple thing of beauty with cherith this evening..............she will of course, laugh at me and explain that i dont NEED it and CANT have it!! Then we will continue to strip wallpaper!!

p.s. it would look sweet in 'our study/office/cool room'.....................yes that IS its name!! though by adding an iMac it would need to be the 'study/office/cool/apple room'! Enough of this nonsense.
Oh, i nearly forgot......philip is on his way to pick up Wes Morris (former downhere manager) who is on a bicycle somwhere between Larne and Ballymena!! He is in Ireland for a few days and wanted to meet up....................small world!!

the road ahead.............

The road ahead? Ah, you probably think a deep and meaningful post should follow that title!! Well, i was just considering where i was this time last year. I had applied for the job i currently am in but had not said to anyone outside of my family.................i waited and waited patiently for an answer and it was nearly 6 weeks before i got one. The answer was, as you know ...........'yes we would love to have you as the manager'................a phrase i never thought id hear!!
Thats all i wanted to say really. I was unsure of the future and know some folks who in the last year have not gotten any more certain of their future so im thankful for what i have and where iv got to. The last year has blown past so quickly...........its weird how life changes so quick isn't it? Like i say.......................the road ahead............................

yea so DO try this at home and not on any form of public transport!! This morning i was on my way to Belfast on the train and "ooouuuch i dont feel so good, i actually think i need to be sick" so i trot off to the loo and promptly puke!! So i got off at the first stop and am now at home, i feel like i have flu or something!! Its wik i know but i dont recommend throwing up on a train! lol

Steve Irwin............

Australian naturalist and television personality Steve Irwin has been killed by a stingray during a diving expedition off the Australian coast. Steve, 44, died after being struck in the chest by the stingray's barb while he was filming a documentary in Queensland's Great Barrier Reef.

This guy did stuff that most people considered to be crazy but it is obvious from the press already that he was much more than an animal stunt guy. He was so highly regarded in his native land and across the world for his work and for his contribution to the environment. When i did watch him on tv i was stunned at his bravery and yes sometimes it seeemd more like madness but nobody can deny that he was a unique character.

Sunday Funday...............

So, this morning we jumped in the car and went on a "recon" mission that shall remain a "secret" for now!! Foy was in the cd player, followed by Badly Drawn Boy and the sun shone as we chatted, laughed and explored the roads!! We had our little trip during Church time! grrrr bad ally & cherith!!! Anyway, it was not shocking to see that the world goes on around the life of our local Church's. We have literally dozens of them, one road we were on had 5 in the space of about a mile!! Northern Ireland is swamped with Church's.................does this make us closer to God or more Holy?
I'll let someone else be the judge of that..........

Bush Dies......................

The Republican Party in Texas has said it is "shocking" and "disturbing" that a TV drama is to depict the assassination of US President Bush. Death of a President uses archive footage, actors and computer effects to portray the president being shot dead.
UK broadcaster Channel 4, who made the mock documentary, said it explored the effects of the War on Terror on the US.
But Gretchen Essell, a spokeswoman for the Republican Party of Texas, called for it not to be screened.

So what do ya think? Me? I Cant wait to see it and not because i want to see "Dubya" getting gunned down...........simply because i reckon it will make great tv!! So bring on that 'imaginary' bullet!
